Attendance of school children returns to normal after one month

Subsequent to the Easter Sunday attacks, attendance of school children has returned to normal today. This was stated by Provincial Education Directors.

Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa and parliamentarians representing the Joint Opposition engaged in an observation tour of some main schools in Colombo today.

The Opposition Leader and his entourage visited Thurstan, Royal, Vishaka, Ananda and Nalanda schools first and inspected them.

Arrival of students in school in schools in other provinces too was at a good level today and our Hiru Correspondent said that teaching took place as usual.

It was reported that attendance of students at schools in the Northcentral Province including Anuradhapura was also normal.

The Education Director of the Central Province Tilak Ekanayake said that attendance at all schools in the Central Province was 80 percent.

Meanwhile, the universities of Ruhuna, Peradeniya, Rajarata, Northwestern and Aesthetic reopened today as well. The Vice Chancellors said that students arrival was near normal.
