Thirty individuals arrested in connection riots in Minuwangoda, granted bail

Minuwangoda Magistrate Kesara Samaradivakara today ordered that the thirty individuals taken into custody in connection with the riots in Minuwangoda be released on bail.

Accordingly, the Magistrate ordered that each suspect be released on surety bail of one hundred thousand rupees.

At the same time the Magistrate ordered that when granting bail, that one of individuals to sign for bail should be a close relation of the suspect and that the relationship should be confirmed by the Grama Niladhari of the area.

Those who were granted bail today were residents of Heenatiyana, Minuwangoda.

Thirty five individuals were taken into custody on the allegations of being members of an illegal assembly and behaving in a riotous manner while damaging business places in the Minuwangoda town.

Thirty of these individuals were remanded until today.

The other three persons were remanded until 29. This case will be taken up for hearing against on 28 August.
