The resolution for the select committee to inquire the Easter Sunday bomb attacks and its aftermath is scheduled to be presented to parliament this afternoon.

Leader of the House, Lakshman Kiriella will mover the resolution.

This select committee will inquire the allegations made against Minister Rishard Baduideen as well.

By any chance, the Opposition objects to the resolution, a vote will be taken, therefore all the government MPs have been informed to attend parliament by 3 pm today.

The government has already named deputy speaker Ananda Kumarasiri for the president post of the proposed committee.

Meanwhile, Minister Baduideen has told the Cabinet that he is ready to resign and be seated in the back benches if the Prime Minister and the President ask him to do so.

A senior Cabinet member told our news that no response was given to minister Baduideen’s statement in the Cabinet.

At the same time, members of 344 families have been affected by the Easter Sunday bomb attacks and, at least one member of 156 families out of the 344 died in the bomb attacks.

Meanwhile, a proposal made by Minister Sajith Premadasa to help rebuild the lives of the affected families has been approved by the Cabinet.

In addition, Cabinet approval was given to rehabilitate the Mosques and other damaged property and pay compensation to the victims during the recent clashes reported from some parts of the country.

This Cabinet paper was presented by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
