Notices have been issued today on 8 suspects arrested from the Wellampitiya Copper Factory ordering them to appear before Court on May 27th.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage issued notices on the suspects after considering a motion filed by Wellampitiya police today.

The Copper factory was owned by Cinnamon Grand suicide bomber, Insaf Ahamed Ibrahim and nine workers attached to his factory were arrested but were released later by the Magistrate.

Meanwhile,  Wellampitiya OIC GS Hevavitharana has been transferred to Galle Division with immediate effect.

Police Media spokesman’s office stated that the transfer has been made according to the approval of the National Police Commission.

Police media spokesman, SP, Ruwan Gunesekera said that the OIC has been transferred with regard to the ongoing investigations as to whether any shortcomings occurred on the side of the police when they produced the 9 suspects arrested from the Wellampitiya copper factory.

At the same time, 32 suspects arrested following the clashes in Minuwangoda area were released on bail today.

However, another 3 suspects were further remanded until May 29 by Minuwangoda Magistrate, Kesara Samaradivakara.
