A police officer killed in a shooting during a liquor raid in Akuressa

A police constable was killed in a shooting during an illicit liquor raid in Uurumuttha in Akuressa.

Police media spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said that the suspect who gunned down the constable has also been identified by now. 

The police constable killed in the incident is a 30-year-old resident of Kanankey.

Reports say that the suspect has fled the area by now.
