Attorney General instructs IGP to conduct a criminal investigation against officers who did not prevent Easter Sunday attacks

Attorney general has informed the acting IGP to conduct criminal investigations into individuals who failed to take action in order to prevent the Easter Sunday attacks.

This is following the interim reports produced by the three member special investigation committee appointed by the president to investigate into the Easter Sunday attacks.

Two interim reports produced by the special investigations committee has been handed over to the Attorney General, by the president’s secretary.

It has been reported that accordingly the attorney general Dappula de Livera has informed the acting IGP, C.D Wickramaratne, to commence criminal investigations over individuals who failed to prevent the attacks based on the reports.

Accordingly, the acting IGP has directed the order to the Criminal Investigations Department.

The Attorney General has also informed the acting IGP to order the conducting of a comprehensive investigation into IGP Pujith Jayasundara, former defense secretary Hemasiri Fernando, National intelligence chief, Commanding officer of the special task force, and the senior DIG of police incharge of western province.
