CID investigations into the Former Defence Secretary and the IGP, begins

A special investigation has been launched by now, by the Criminal Investigation Department according to instructions of the Attorney General, into former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundera.  

The Attorney General had informed the Acting IGP to carry out a criminal investigation into individuals who did not act to prevent the attacks that took place on Easter Sunday.

A spokesman of the CID said that accordingly, investigations are being conducted into IGP Pujith Jayasundera, former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando, Head of the National Intelligence Division, Commanding Officer of the Special Task Force and the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Western Province.
