President congratulates Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi

President Maithreepala Sirisena says that he hopes to continue strengthening the bilateral relationship between Sri Lanka and India.

The president stated this, congratulating Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi following his landslide victory at the Indian general election.

Issuing a special message the president noted that India as the neighbour of Sri Lanka has an unwavering bond between the two nations.

The president also noted that the victory is reconfirmation of assurance placed by the Indian people on the policies and principles of the Indian prime minister.

The congratulatory message by the president further iterated the strengthening of bilateral relationships between Sri Lanka and India during his upcoming tenure as someone who works closely with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
