The Lanka Teaching Services Association allege that not taking into consideration the instructions given by the Ministry of Education not to hold school sessions to cover up the periods missed, the Principal of Anula Vidyalaya Nugegoda is preparing to hold seminars at night.

Since it has been decided not to hold sessions to cover up the two weeks’ period of study which was missed, the Ministry of Education had advised Principals previously to amend term notes to cover all subject facts.

The Principal of Anula Vidyalaya in Nugegoda has made arrangements to hold seminars from tomorrow until 6 July every Saturday from 8.30 pm to 6.00 am the following day which covers all subjects. It is said that this has been informed in writing to parents of students in Grade 11.

A time table has been attached for night seminars in the relevant letter and a security plan too has been mentioned. In it, it is further stated that during the entire period the seminars are held, they hope to get about 40 parents to participate. Secretary to the Lanka Teaching Services Association Mahinda Jayasinghe points out that by holding such seminars at night, it will put students under stress.

Anyhow, the Principal of Anula Vidyalaya Jayani Prasangika told the Hiru News Division that she received verbal approval based on a discussion with the National Schools Director of the Ministry of Education.
