Elections Commission to seek Supreme Court’s opinion

The Elections Commission has decided to seek the opinion of the Supreme Court with regard to holding the Provincial Council election.

A Spokesperson of the Commission said that discussions are also to be held regarding a a suitable time period for the election, when the Commission meets next week.

The opinion of the Supreme Court is to be sought as the tenure of 8 out of 9 Provincial Councils has expired.

Though Party Leaders held discussions regarding the Provincial Council elections, no final decision has been reached.
