8 Persons hospitalized in a van accident – caesarian operation carried out on a pregnant woman

Eight persons were injured in a van accident at Wewelgaraya – South Nivandama – in Ja-ela yesterday (26).

Our correspondent said it was a group of people who had attended a wedding that was involved in the accident.

The van had been unable to control its speed and hit a telephone post in the accident.

In the accident the van driver has fractured one of his legs and his pregnant wife too sustained injuries.

As a result she was subject to a caesarian operation on doctors’ advice said hospital sources and the baby was removed.

All eight individuals who were injured were admitted to the Ragama Hospital and the Ja-ela Police are carrying out further investigations.
