Health Ministry initiates an inquiry on Kurunegala doctor; Rathana thera alleges investigations are interfered - GMOA preparing for a strike

The Health Ministry has appointed a special investigation unit to initiate an inquiry on Obstetrician and Gynecologist of Kurunegala hospital Segu Siyabdeen Safi.

Dr Safi is currently in police custody.

Meanwhile, 51 women made complaints against Dr Safi today.

Meanwhile the GMOA charges that health minister Rajitha Senarathna is pressurizing the hospital director to stop the ongoing investigations against Dr Safi.

GMOA secretary, Dr. Indika Rathnayake said that his union would take stern action if the health minister continues to pressurize the director of Kurunegala hospital.

Dr Safi was arrested by police last Friday and, later he was handed over to the CID for further investigations.
