Ten incidents of spreading extremist ideas

The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Forum says that ten incidents of spreading extremist ideas through Social Media including WhatsApp has been reported.

Information Protection Engineer Ravindu Meegasmulla said that the Facebook Company has been informed about the relevant complaints.

Meanwhile four suspects were arrested recently for having engaged in group chats through WhatsApp and spreading extremist ideas, in Dharga Town – Aluthgama recently and three of them were released on bail.

The Panadura Magistrate’s Court ordered that one suspect be remanded until tomorrow.

Anyhow, Police Media Spokesman, SP Ruwan Gunasekera requested people to be very careful when using Social Media.
