Teachers’ Associations allege that there are several problems in the circular issued yesterday for admitting children to Grade One for the next year.

The Lanka Teachers’ Association said that the problem of allocating marks in connection with ownership of Deeds for the Northwestern and Western Provinces which was there last year exists in the new circular issued yesterday, as well.

The Lanka Teachers’ Association complained to the Human Rights Commission last year about this problem.

Expressing his views to the Hiru News Division, General Secretary of the Lanka Teachers’ Association Joseph Stalin said that in this circular, injustice has been done to teachers, who teach in remote, difficult areas, when allocating marks to children being admitted to Grade One.

Although we tried to contact Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam in this regard, we failed since he did not respond to his telephone.
