Defence Secretary to appear before the special select committee probing the Easter Sunday attacks

Defence secretary Retired General Shaantha Kottegoda has been summoned today to the Special Select Committee appointed for studying and reporting to parliament regarding the Easter Sunday terrorist attack.

Parliamentary source said that the defence secretary has been summoned to appear before the Select Committee at 9 a.m. as the first witness of the Select Committee.

Evidence is scheduled to be led before the special select committee from 9 a.m. to to 1 p.m. While the special parliamentary select committee for studying and reporting about the Easter Sunday attack met for the first time last Thursday, the committee meets today for the second time.

Meanwhile Pulic Administration and Disaster Management Minister Ranjith Maddumabandara said yesterday that the activities of this select committee would be open for the media.
