Issuing of explosives which was suspended temporarily begins again

Based on the security situation which prevailed in the country the Security Council, temporarily suspended issuing of explosives but now it has commenced again.

This was based on instructions of President Maithripala Sirisena.

Accordingly, required quantities of explosives are being issued to both private and government institutions where projects are being carried out, based on a license issued by the District Secretary from the Government Commercial Explosives, Firearms and Ammunition Purchasing Unit on instructions issued.

At the same time for industries where stone quarries and excavation sites are being maintained, the required quantity of explosives has to be submitted to the District Secretary together with the licenses in order to obtain explosives, the Ministry of Defence said.
