President leaves the island to participate in Modi’s swearing-in ceremony

President Maithripala Sirisena left for New Delhi in India today to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Our Hiru Correspondent at the Katunayake Airport said that the President left on an aircraft belonging to Indian Airlines at about 8.20 this morning.

A delegation of 12 persons has accompanied the President.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held at 7 tonight at the Indian President’s official residence Rashtapathi Bhavan.

In addition to the Sri Lankan state leader, state leaders of Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan have been invited for this function. At the same time a group of more than 8000 including renowned businessmen, artistes and sportsmen and women have been invited to the ceremony.
