Transporting parcels by trains begins on 1 June

The Railway Department said that transporting of parcels by train which had been suspended after the Easter Sunday bombs will recommence from 1 June.

General Manager of Railways Dilantha Fernando responding to an inquiry made by the Hiru News Division said that accordingly parcels will be transported by train to all areas of the island.

Transporting of parcels on trains was halted from the 22 of last month due to the prevalent security situation.

He said that as a result the Railway Department has incurred a loss of about Rs. 16 million.
