Attorney General sues Ravi for making false statements before the Bond Commission

The Attorney General’s department informed the court today that it expects to file action against Minister Ravi Karunanayake for making false statements before the Commission to probe the Central Bank Bond Scam.

When the case was taken before Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayarathna today, Senior Lawyer, Lakmini Girihagama who appeared for the Attorney General's Department informed the court that the department expects to record statements from Ravi Karunanayake and his daughter as well.

The Magistrate who fixed to recall the case again on June 29th ordered the CID to report the progress of the investigations to the court.

Meanwhile, the Colombo High Court announced in open court that the Appeal Court has dismissed the revised application filed by the Attorney general against its acquittal of 13 respondents including Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera.

The Attorney General’s department had sued Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera and 12 others for launching an assault on a Calvary Prayer Center at Thalahena in 2008.
