President Maithripala Sirisena who left to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his second term in office, reached New Delhi.

The President was welcomed by a group of senior officials of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.

Sri Lankan High Commissioner in India Austin Fernando and the staff also were present, the Presidential Media Division said.

President Sirisena is to join state leaders of other countries at the swearing-in ceremony to be held at the official residence of the Indian President, Rashtrapathi Bhavan.
