Rains of 100mm in several areas of the island

The Meteorology Department said that rains of more than 100mm could be experienced today as well in several places in the island including in the Western, Southern and Sabaragamuwa Provinces.

Thundershowers could be experienced after 2pm today in the Uva Province and the districts of Batticaloa and Ampara.

At the same time, the speed of winds in seas off the coast from Puttalam to Kankesanturai across Mannar and from Galle to Batticaloa across Pottuvil could increase to between 50-55 kilometers per hour the Department said in a statement issued.
