Indian Prime Minister says he is ready to provide any assistance Sri Lanka requires, in the future as well

The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi says that he is ready to provide any assistance Sri Lanka required, in the future as well.

The Indian Premier who was elected to this post for the second time expressed these views when he met President Maithripala Sirisena this morning.

Narendra Modi who achieved an excellent victory at the Indian General Election was sworn-in for the second time as the Prime Minister of India yesterday evening and President Maithripala attended the ceremony on his invitation.

Subsequently a meeting between the Sri Lankan President and the Indian Prime Minister took place this morning (31) at Hyderabad.

President Sirisena who went to the Prime Minister’s official residence in Hyderabad was welcomed warmly with friendship by the Indian Premier, the President’s Media Division said.

Later the two leaders engaged in bilateral talks and Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his pleasure to the President for accepting his invitation and attending his swearing-in ceremony.

The Indian Prime Minister who recalled with regret the tragic incident Sri Lanka had to face recently, had discussed how to further strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries that exist in relation to peace and development.

 The President’s Media Division further said that the two leaders pledged to work together on behalf of eradicating terrorism and regional peace.

President Maithripala Sirisena expressed his pleasure regarding the overwhelming victory of Narendra Modi achieved at this time’s election and becoming India’s Prime Minister for the second time and expressed his belief that ties between Sri Lanka and India will be strengthened further during the Indian Premier’s upcoming period of administration.

The President’s Media Division also said that the two leaders agreed to dedicate themselves together, as leaders who work together closely.
