As of today 429 complaints have been received against Dr. Seigu Siyabdeen Mohammed Shafi of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital who was taken into custody.

These complaints have been received by the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital, the Dambulla Base Hospital and the Dambulla Police.

82 complaints were received by the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital today and the total number of complaints received by this hospital now stands at 386.

43 Complaints have been received in connection with the suspect Dr. Mohammed Shafi and 13 complaints were received against him today.

Meanwhile, the interim report of the committee investigating Dr. Seigu Siyabdeen Mohammed Shafi of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital who is in custody, is due to be handed over today.

It is reported that this is to be handed over to the Secretary of the Ministry of Health.

Acting Director General of Health Services Dr. Lal Panapitiya said that once the report is received, future investigations will be implemented into the incident.

Meanwhile, SLPP has decided to move a no confidence motion against health minister Rajitha Senarathna for his attempt to prevent a proper investigation against the arrested doctor.
