Interim report on Dr. Saafi to be released today

The interim report of the committee the Health Ministry had appointed to probe and report about Kurunegala Teaching Hospital Dr. Saafi Sihaabdeen is scheduled to be handed over to the Health Ministry Secretary today.

Replying to a query by our news team Acting Health Director General Dr. Laal Panaapitiya said that that the interim report had been prepared considering the statements obtained and the complaints lodged.

While the Health Ministry had appointed a six-member investigation committee for probing the complaints about the Doctor, accordingly it was recommended that an initial report of the committee containing its observations and recommendations be submitted within a week.

Meanwhile, by now 501 complaints have been lodged at the Kurunegala and Dambulla hospitals against Kurunegala Teaching Hospital Doctor Saafi Sihaabdeen currently in custody.
