A gazette notification announcing that governors Asad Saali and M.L.A.M Hizbullah have resigned from their positions has been released.

It has been reported that measures were taken to issue the respective gazette notification yesterday itself.

Rathana thero concluded his fast unto death, upon receiving in writing that the two governors had resigned from their posts.

Meanwhile, the muslim MPs and minister who have resigned from their posts have decided to take their seats as backbenchers in parliament when convened today.

4 cabinet ministers, 4 state ministers and a deputy minister resigned from their posts yesterday.

Accordingly, minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education, Rauff Hakeem, Minister of Highways & Road Development and Petroleum Resources Development, Kabir Hasheem and Minister of Muslim Religious Affairs and Posts Abdul Haleem served as cabinet ministers representing the government.

In addition, Minister Rishad Bathiudeen who was spoken of widely recently served as a cabinet minister holding several portfolios including the ministry of Industry & Commerce, Resettlement of Protracted Displaced Persons, Co-operative Development and Vocational Training & Skills Development.

Further, Faizal Cassim served as the State Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, H.M.M Harees as the State Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government, while Ali Saheer Maulana served as the state minister of Social empowerment, Ameer Ali as the state minister of Agriculture, irrigation and rural economic affairs.

In addition, Abdulla Maharoof served as the deputy minister of port and naval affairs.

Minister Rauf Hakeem, expressed these views at the special media briefing convened at temple trees in order to inform about his resignation yesterday.
