A special meeting between the President and the Prime Minister

A special meeting has been held between President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe following all the Muslim ministers resigned from the government.

General Secretaries of the UPFA and UNP, Mahinda Amaraweera and Akila Viraj Kariyawasam also participated in this meeting held at the President’s official residence last night.

Sources revealed that the President and the Premier discussed the current political situation and the resignations by Muslim Ministers.

Meanwhile, a UNP spokesman said that the president and their premier expect to have a further discussion to fill the vacated ministerial posts after the Muslim ministers resigned.
