DIG Nalaka de Silva who was in charge of the TID and defense secretary retired general, Shantha Kottegoda as well as national intelligence chief retired senior DIG Sisira Mendis had provided evidence before the executive committee previously.

Meanwhile the fundamental rights petition filed by two civilians with regard to the Easter Sunday attacks naming IGP Pujith Jayasundara and former defense secretary Hemasiri Fernando as its respondents, is to be taken up for consideration once again.

The fundamental rights petition had been filed noting that the fundamental rights of the public have been violated by the former defense secretary and the IGP as they had failed to act on the forewarnings received from the intelligence to prevent the Easter Sunday attacks which targeted churches and tourist hotels.

When the petition was taken into consideration on the 31st of May, the Attorney General requested from the chief justice that the case be taken up before a full judge bench.

Appearing on behalf of the attorney general, senior solicitor general Farzana Jameel noted that as the petition contained information of national importance, a full judge bench was requested from the chief justice to examine the petition.
