The interim report of the Presidential Investigation Commission appointed to inquire into corruption and fraud which took place in government and statutory boards from 15 January 2015 to 31 December 2018 as well as criminal breach of trust, criminal misappropriation of property, deception and power or authority, misuse of state resources and privileges and abuse, was handed over to President Maithripala Sirisena.

The President’s Media Division said that the Chairman of the Commission retired Supreme Court Judge Upali Abeyratne presented the report to the President this afternoon (06) at his office.

The other members including retired High Court Judge Sarojini Kusala Weerawardena were also present on this occasion.

The role of this Commission is to call for serious allegations, public complaints, information and other facts in relation to the above mentioned matters and to subject them to an expedited, impartial investigation.

The report of this commission which was appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena on 17 January was due to be handed over to the President in six months’ time.
