26 doctors give statements to CID about Dr Safi

The Criminal Investigation Department has obtained statements from 534 individuals in connection with the ongoing investigation against Kurunegala gynaecologist Seigu Shihabdeen.

The Police said 421 women, 26 doctors, 69 nurses and 18 members of the Kurunegala Hospital staff were among them.

Meanwhile, a committee of specialists has been appointed to investigate the complaints filed by mothers against Dr. Shihabdeen.

The committee is led by the Judicial Medical Officer of Colombo.
