Court order preventing Venerable Akmeemama Dayarathana theros protest

A court order has been issued banning a procession and a meeting a group including Sinhala Raavaya Chairperson Venerable Akmeemana Dayaarathana Thera had organized to take place in Dehiwela today.

Dehiwela police had informed the Mt. Lavinia Magistrate Court that impediments to public peace and a turbulent as well as a rebellious situation   could crop up among people as a result of the procession and the meeting concerned.

The Police Media Spokesman’s office said that accordingly today’s procession and meeting were completely banned.

The order also states that the meeting has been banned according to the provisions of the emergency regulation.
