Decision to take up for hearing the Rs. 55 million compensation case

The judiciary has decided to take up for hearing the case filed asking for compensation in the incident where the Commissioner of Ayurveda of the Northcentral Province was subject to an acid attack and blinded in one eye and causing serious injury.

The Northcentral Province Commissioner of Ayurveda Dr. Kumara Alwis had filed a case at the Anuradhapura District Court asking for compensation of Rs. 55 million from three respondents including an Ayurvedic doctor.

When this case was taken up for hearing yesterday in the presence of District Judge and Additional Magistrate Manoj Talgodapitiya the Judge ordered that the relevant case be taken up for hearing on 24 September.

These persons who had come to official residence of the Ayurveda Commissioner on 22 February 2013 or on a date thereabouts had attacked him with acid.
