State Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Ashok Abeysinghe says that the recently approved traffic fines where the minimum fine for 6 types of offences was increased to 25,000 Rupees will take effect this week.

The Draft Bill to increase fines on traffic offences was approved in Parliament day before yesterday.

Accordingly, a 25,000 Rupee fine will be imposed for driving without a valid license, reckless driving across level crossings, drunk driving, driving without valid insurance, exceeding speed limits and reckless driving.
