The Meteorology Department said that the strong winds prevailing with the Southwest Monsoon will continue for a few days more.

The Department said that the speed of these winds could increase up to 50 kilometers per hour at times.

Meanwhile, due to these strong winds that affected several areas of the island about 150 houses have been partially damaged.

Our Hiru Correspondent said that during strong winds that blew through Kimbulawela – Siyambalanduwa – Moneragala this morning about 10 houses were damaged.

In addition, strong winds that affected Negombo – Kepumgoda and the north of Deraniyagala caused damages to several houses as well.

The Disaster Management Center request people not to park vehicles near huge trees on roads in cities and to refrain from remaining in these vehicles, taking into consideration the strong winds being experienced with rain.
