Strong winds in the upcoming days as well – thundershowers in several provinces

The Meteorology Department said that the winds prevailing over the island at present could be expected during the upcoming few days as well.

The Department informed that rains or thundershowers could occur from time to time in the Western, Southern, Central, Sabaragamuwa and Northwestern provinces today (11).

Slight rain showers could be experienced in the districts of Anuradhapura, Vavuniya and Mannar. The winds blowing across the island could increase to 50 kilometers per hour, the Meteorology Department said in a statement issued this morning.

They have informed that winds experienced from time to time could increase up to 60 kilometers per hour, especially on the Western slopes of the Central Hills and in the Northern, Northcentral and Northwestern provinces as well as in the districts of Ampara and Moneragala.
