Attention has been focused on providing an opportunity to voters to not vote for any political party or contester.

During a discussion which was held last Tuesday between the officials of the elections commission and political party representatives, a proposal was made to include a separate column for this purpose in the ballot paper.

Accordingly a new column stating “none of the above” is proposed to be included below the political party names.

Director General of Elections commission Saman Ratnayake said they will evaluate the impact of such a system on Sri Lanka.
