The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) said that legal action will be taken against fuel filling stations which do not sell fuel at the reduced prices.

The Chairman of CPC G. S. Vithanage made this comment when the Hiru News Division inquired about this. There are already complaints that fuel is not being sold at the reduced prices.

The Chairman said that complaints can be lodged with the General Manager of the Marketing Division of the CPC in connection with filling stations that are not providing fuel at reduced prices.

Providing the advantage of the fuel prices dropping in the world market, the government took steps to decrease fuel prices with effect from midnight yesterday.

Accordingly a liter of Octane 92 petrol was reduced by Rs. 2 and the price of a liter of Octane 95 petrol by Rs. 5. The new price of a liter of Octane 92 petrol subsequent to the revision will be Rs. 136 and the new price of a liter of Octane 95 petrol will be Rs. 159.

At the same time the price of Super Diesel has been reduced by Rs. 5 per liter and the new price is Rs. 131. There has been no price change in Auto Diesel, though.

Meanwhile, Lanka IOC too reduced its fuel prices with effect from midnight yesterday.
