Hatton police officers and wildlife officers are in the process of treating an injured wild cat hit by a train.

Nallathanniya Wildlife office officials commenced treatment for an injured wild cat that was hit by a train at Malliappuwa near the Hatton Station.

Hatton police officers were alerted this morning by the Hatton station officials regarding  a baby leopard that was injured near the railway crossing in Hatton, Malliappuwa. When the police visited the site, they saw a pregnant wild cat injured instead and fallen near the tracks.

The police officers who witnessed this had informed the officers of the Nallathanniya Wildlife Office and had taken the wild cat to the Hatton Police Station on their directive with the greatest difficulty.

Officers of the Nallathanniya Wildlife Office have visited the Hatton Police and treated the wounded Wildcat through a veterinarian.

While carrying the injured Wildcat to the hospital, a wildlife officer was bitten and inured.

The Nalathanniya Wildlife Office Wildlife Protection Officer stated that after the treatment, the wild cat would be released to a forest reserve.
