It was revealed yesterday before the Presidential Commission probing fraud and corruption from 2015 to 2018, that 39 nurses attached to the Castle Street Womens hospital have been serving the Neville Fernando hospital and that their salaries are remitted through the Castle hospital payroll.

This was when the Accountant of the castle street womens hospital testified before the commission.

He added that he was compelled to do so based on orders issued by the former secretary to the Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile in connection to the investigations conducted regarding the building maintained by the Ministry of Agriculture, the commission noted that Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dissanyake had requested for a 3 day period to respond to questions raised by the commission.

It was revealed before the commission recently that the Govi Jana Mandiraya which was under the purview of the respective Ministry was transferred to the Parliamentary Executive Committee.

Accordingly the commission directed 15 questions to the secretary general of parliament yesterday requesting his response.

Further the presidents commission has informed secretary to the Ministry of education that the transfer of the Director of Supplies of the Ministry of Education, I.M.K.B Ilangasinghe who testified before the commission, to the organization unit is illegal and to transfer him back to the Division he was serving in previously.

In order to ensure this, the Secretary to the Ministry of Education Nihal Ranasinghe was summoned before the commission yesterday.

However he had notified that he would appear before the commission today and the commission noted that it has been reported that I.M.K.B Illangasinghe has been retransferred to the supplies division.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Maharagama Apeksha hospital Wasantha Dissanayake is to testify before the commission today in connection to alleged fraud committed during importing medicinal drugs for the hospital.
