The police launched a water and tear gas attack to disperse the protest march launched by the Students' Collective to protect the Higher National Diploma in Accountancy.

The protest which commenced in front of the Fort Railway Station this afternoon was dispersed by the police when it was nearing the Lotus Roundabout.

The road leading to Galle Face has been closed from the Lotus roundabout due to the march.

They are protesting stating that the students who have taken this diploma course have been neglected when degree holders are given the posts of Development Officers.
