Speaking to the Hiru news team, Nimal Premathilaka, Social Specialist of the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development stated that 150 metric tons of garbage of the Colombo Municipal Council has been brought to Puttalam Aruwakkalu garbage yard.

He further stated that 14 lorries carrying garbage from the Colombo Municipal Council arrived at the Aruwakkalu Yard in Puttalam last night.

The Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development stopped garbage disposal at the Keralawalapitiya garbage yard in Wattala from Monday.

Therefore, garbage was piling up at several places in the Colombo Municipal Council area. The people were greatly inconvenienced by this situation.

Currently garbage that was piled up has been cleared from many places in the Colombo city.

The Municipal Commissioner of the Colombo Municipal Council Palitha Nanayakkara stated that accordingly, all garbage piled up in the Colombo Municipal Council area will be disposed between today and tomorrow.
