An investigation has been initiated against the private institution which haphazardly disposed hospital chemical waste to a Mahaweli Authority forest reserve at Samagipura in Sevanagala.

Our correspondent said that the already disposed waste is being removed using backhoe machines since last night.

Among the waste, it is reported that there are human remains and syringes used to collect blood samples.

Meanwhile, an individual is reported to have claimed this land without any authority and collected some money from the particular private company and allowed it to dispose hospital waste.

At the same time, Central Environment Authority chairman, Isura Devapriya said that the hospital chemical waste should be removed from that land only under a Court order.

However, our news team learnt that such a Court order has not been obtained as yet.

In addition, another stock of hospital chemical waste was left in different places by the road from Vavuniya to Puvarasankulama Pompemadu.
