Request of 55 UNP MP’s handed over to the Prime Minister

A letter asking the UNP leadership to convene its working committee and the parliamentary group together, to make a decision with regard to the party presidential candidate, was handed over to party leader Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today.

55 MPs have signed the letter and, it was handed over by party chairman Kabeer Hashim and Minister Ranjith Maddumabandara at Temple trees.

Meanwhile, a UNP Parliamentary group meeting is held at Temple Trees at this moment.

Several discussions were held in the last few weeks to select a presidential candidate for the party but the groups have failed to take a final decision as yet.
