This was at the East Terminal of the Colombo Harbor under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

The media unit stated that the President unveiled the ship's nameplate and the official emblem amidst inter religious blessings.

The President also made an observation tour of the ship.

Built in 1994, the ship is 112 meters long and 12.4 meters wide, with a capacity of 2300 tons.

The vessel is to be used for search and rescue operations in the deep sea and for the protection of the sea reacted resources.
