The Supreme Court five judge bench headed by the Chief Justice have stated that the Supreme Court will inform the President of their opinion regarding the possibility of conducting the Provincial Council elections without the report from the delimitation committee.

The Supreme Court completed its deliberation today and arrived at a decision regarding the reference application of the President.

This five-member panel of judges was headed by Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya and comprised of judges Buwaneka Aluvihare, Sisira de Abrew, Prasanna Jayawardena and Vijith Malalgoda.

The final decision on whether the Provincial Council election can be held before the presidential election will be taken based on the determination of the Supreme Court.

Our correspondent stated that the lawyers for the thirteen parties presented their arguments against the Presidents petition today and finally the Additional Solicitor General appearing on behalf of the Attorney General made the final submissions.
