The leaders of UNF have expressed their disappointment over the decision to further delay the nomination of party presidential candidate.

Tamil Progressive alliance leader Mano Ganeshan told our news team that the delay has caused to postpone the formation of the new alliance.

Meanwhile Sajith Premadasa faction insists that the nomination of the party presidential candidate should be announced within the next five days.

State Minister Ashok Abeysinghe who represents the Sajith Faction said that his faction has to seek alternative means otherwise.

Meanwhile, minister Ravi Karunanayake who spoke to the media following a ceremony held in Colombo yesterday had this to say about the delay of announcing the party presidential candidate.

In addition, political sources stated that the UNP is planning to appoint new members to the party central working committee.

Our news team discovered that there are 22 vacancies in the 91 member UNP central working committee.

Under the UNP Constitution, the party leader has sole right to appoint members to the central working committee.

55 UNP MPs handed over a letter to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe asking him to convene the central working committee and the parliamentary group meeting together to take a final decision about the presidential candidate.

Meanwhile, Sajith Faction informed the party leadership that it cannot agree with the party leadership if it decides to convene only the central working committee meeting.
