Gotabaya Rajapakse meets election commission officials

Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, the Presidential candidate of the joint opposition led by the Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna, held a discussion with the Election Commission last afternoon.

A member of the commission told our news team that the discussion was held at 2 pm at the request of the Presidential candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

Chairman of the Election Commission Mahinda Deshapriya and two members of the commission Proffesor Ratnajeevan H. Hoole and President's Counsel Nalin Abeysekara participated in the discussions.

The spokesman of the Election Commission stated that during this meeting which lasted nearly one hour, the manner in which the election campaign should be carried out, media usage and rules and regulations pertaining to the forthcoming presidential election were discussed.

However, it is reported that there was no discussion regarding the citizenship of Presidential candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
