Acting IGP C.D.Wickramaratna has announced all police stations informing about the manner law should be implemented in arresting persons. 

The announcement has informed that the Human Rights Commission has issued guideline recommendations for preventing law-enforcement officers from arresting persons arbitrarily and illegally.

Accordingly on every occasion an arrest is made, it is important that there is sure evidence for a just suspicion based on a proper inquiry.

Similarly, in matters like identifying religious symbols based on each culture or in identifying the content in an expression written in a foreign language, the view of the specialist on the subject should be obtained.

In addition the acting IGP has informed the police stations when identifying chemical materials or computer files, video footage and similar evidence too the views of specialists on the subject concerned should be obtained. 

Arrests should be made after obtaining reliable information and on the basis of a just suspicion.
