Presidential Commission of inquiry appointed to investigate into acts of corruption & frauds occurred in state institutions during 2015-2018 is preparing to commence investigations into the illegal export of soil mixed with gold from the Sri Lankan gold mines owned by the Government of Sri Lanka.

Former Deputy Director of Customs M. Gunaratne has been summoned and due to appear before the Commission on the 12th. Notice has also been served to the present Customs director to submit the relevant files. 

Meanwhile the Mayor of Kotte testified before the commission regarding the building rented by the Ministry of agriculture. He stated that the building has been approved by the Municipal Council.

Prime Minister's Secretary Saman Ekanayake is scheduled to testify before the Commission today. The Presidential Commission is also investigating incidents of land registration at the Kandy Land Office without levying taxes.
