Functions of the public institutions have been crippled by the ongoing strike launched by the Sri Lanka Administrative Service Association and the University Non-academic and administrative staff.

It is reported that routine work at the pension department, the registration of persons department and the department of motor vehicle registration have been severely affected.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka administrative service association secretary Rohana de Silva said that the ongoing strike will be continued if the authorities fail to solve their problems.

In addition, University Non-academic staff has also staged a continuous strike today over a salary anomaly created by the 2016 budget.

Non-academic activities of all national universities have been affected by the strike launched by 23 trade unions.

At the same time, All Ceylon Healthcare Union also launched a token strike over 10 demands.

Hospital functions were affected from 8 am to 12 noon throughout the country.
