The Government Medical Officers Association will be engaging in a one day token strike from 8 am today demanding that the salary anomalies in the public sector be rectified.

Media committee member of the association, Dr. Prasad Colombage noted that the strike will not be active in maternity, kidney, cancer and children’s hospitals.

Meanwhile, the Sathyagraha launched by the national movement for securing rights of war heroes based on several demands including issues pertaining to salaries continue for a 9th day.

A group of disabled war heroes commenced a protest walk last evening to the president’s secretariats office and as a result the police took measures to close the entry way to Galle Face green from lotus roundabout.

Further the Ceylon national transport employees association says that the strike action launched by the SLTB employees based on 5 demands including the 2,500 rupee allowance, continues.

The chairman of the association, Saman Pushpakumara noted that employees of nearly 80 depots have joined the strike.
